How to Pick the Right Colors for Your Furniture

Colors affect the mood of an individual. They can create a more relaxing, comfortable feeling, ruin your mood or make you feel nervous. Thus, it is essential that the colors of your furniture will complement with the colors of your ceilings, floors and walls. Here are some points that will help you in choosing the right colors for your furniture.

Colors such as sepia and naked wood tone for furniture will not work best for bright red walls. Instead, it is advisable to use furniture with black or wrought iron colors in a red room.

For smaller rooms you may use metal furniture for a modern touch. Metals reflect the light causing it to bounce around the room. Go for furniture pieces that will allow light to travel through like a glass table top.

Neutral colors will work best in most rooms especially in small spaces. If you find neutral colors too dull, you can change the mood by adding colorful pillows.

Heavy black and dark wood are good to use in large rooms. However, they make smaller rooms seem cluttered. To create an illusion of wider space for small rooms, light colors should be used. Lighter colors are also best to use for rooms that have inadequate lighting in the evening but are bright during the day.

Think about the decors and furnishings in your room such as your curtains and coffee table. Check whether the color of your furniture will match with the color of your decors. Moreover, place two or three large pieces of furniture for small spaces rather than a number of small furniture pieces. Small pieces of furniture will make the room seem cluttered.

Lastly, consider the durability of the furniture that you are to going to use. Look for those that are of high quality and will last for a longer period of time.

The right choice of colors for furniture doesn’t just add aesthetics to your rooms. It also creates an illusion of bigger space, gives cozier and relaxing environment.

Color Magic: Tips on How to Make a Small Room Look Larger

http://www.interiorgallerydesign.com

Are you worrying about the small space you have? Have you ever dreamed of relaxing in a wide spaced living room?

Here are some tips on how to trick the eyes and make a small room appear bigger.

You don’t need to spend too much nor do major house renovations like breaking your walls just to make a tiny area look larger and spacious. It can be done by simply exercising your creativity and playing a bit with colors.

One of the secrets lies in the use of light colors. Pastels and light colors like cream, ivory, and icy blues will create an illusion of larger and bigger rooms. These colors also make the space open, fresh and well-ventilated because lighter colors reflect more light while darker colors absorb the light.

Lights can also be factors in making rooms seem larger. A well-lighted room helps widen the space.  For windows, you may use shades or panels and go for thin and lightweight curtains instead of heavy ones. It is also essential to open your windows and let the natural light of the outdoors into the room.

The color of the ceiling can either make the room seem smaller or bigger. To achieve that “higher ceiling trick”, avoid painting the ceiling with colors that are attractive to the eyes. Instead, choose neutral colors for the ceiling such as beige, cream, and white.

The use of stripes, narrow vertical stripes in white perhaps, can make a low ceiling appear higher. On the other hand, using of 2 or 3 horizontal stripes can make the room appear longer.  Depending on your choice, stripes can either be painted on the walls or you may paper the walls.

For fabrics and rugs, it is ideal to use smaller prints or plain color. This creates a unified effect and tends to expand the room visually.

The use of mirrors will also help maximize the space in a small room. Use over sized mirrors or a set of smaller mirrors to double the size of the room or to make the room look bigger and to add extra light as well.

Don’t forget to clear out the mess or clutter in your room. Place the things that you’re no longer using in an empty box. Remember, well-organized things will make the space tidy, open and more breathable.

Choosing The Right Paint Colors

http://www.naldzgraphics.net
Home is said to be "one of the center points of life". It is a place where you can find total relaxation and enjoyment.  Choosing the right colors for your home should be looked into in interior designing for it does not only make your home look good, it also awakens different sensations such as relaxation, calmness, warmth, and comfort. The colors that you choose affect your emotions and will influence one’s mood and thoughts.  Here are some ideas that will help you save money and time in choosing the right paint colors.

First, determine the mood that you want to create.
Light colors will make the room appear spacious and airy while dark colors give sophisticated and warm appeal. Dark colors also give large rooms a more intimate appearance. Red and shades of orange stimulate excitement. These colors give your home warmth, energy, and vitality.

Meanwhile, yellow gives a friendly and happy atmosphere and speeds the metabolism. This color is good to use in living and entertainment rooms, kitchen and dining rooms. Violet gives a romantic, dramatic, and sophisticated feeling.

On the other hand, green provides a relaxing atmosphere while blue gives a soothing and calming ambiance. These two colors are suitable for home libraries and offices.

Second, when you are undecided of your chosen color, try to apply it first in a smaller room like a bathroom, a small hall or an accent wall.

Next, observe the rule of three in choosing a color. Use your preferred color at least three times in a room.

Lighting also has a vital role in a room’s appearance. Soften the colors to experience calmness in rooms with less light while it is advisable to use brighter colors or pastels for rooms with more light.

Lastly, combine each part of the room’s structure into the color scheme.  Check whether all the colors in the room will match with each other, from the room’s decorations, carpets and ceiling to the walls and furnishings.
